Since Owen may be in or near Edmonton, or possibly on his way east, publicizing our search in Edmonton and Saskatoon is crucial.
Thank you Global News, for this story which ran in both cities: http://www.globalsaskatoon.com/UPDATE+Search+missing+Australian+moves+Alberta/4065700/story.html
We are the Rooney family from Australia and are desperately searching for our son Owen, who walked away from the hospital and his belongings in Grand Forks, BC, on August 14, 2010. He has not been heard from since. It is extremely unusual for him to not be in contact with friends and family.
He had sustained a head injury on Aug 12, 2010.
He is 5'9" tall, 160 lb, has an Australian accent and was last seen wearing a dark shirt and shorts. He has tattoos on his right calf and on his shoulder (see pictures below, right). He worked at Big White in Kelowna for the previous two winters and at a restaurant in Kelowna until his disappearance.
We are asking for your help and are most appreciative of any help you can give us. If you can print out posters and put them up, that would help a LOT (visit this site and right click to print or go to the Facebook page and click on File and then Owens Poster to download it). Read below to see where posters have already been placed.
Our Facebook page is Help Find Owen Rooney. To share via Twitter, Facebook, e-mail, etc, there is a row of icons below the word Comments under each post. Just click on the appropriate one. Facebook gives you two choices for the thumbnail you can use. I suggest you use the picture of Owen. I can't get it to be the default.

I am sure that it was Owen that came into my work selling dreamcatchers around December 21, 2010. I work at a Vet Clinic in the town of Okotoks which is about 15 minutes south of Calgary, Alberta. I was unaware that he was missing until I was watching Global News the either night and saw his picture and that he was selling dreamcatchers and I was certain that this was Owen. Although we do not have cameras at the vet, I am sure he would have went into the pizza place and liquor store which are in the same shopping plaza that have cameras. I made my statement and was contacted by an RCMP Officer from the Grand Forks Detachment and provided him with all of my information. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance to your family.

Thanks Christie for calling the RCMP. We are getting quite a few people saying that Owen is with these groups. None have been confirmed so hopefully with the awareness now we will be able to find ourt if its him for sure. Thanks again Chrisite it helps us to know where they have been, so we can find out where they are heading.
ReplyDeleteHi Sharron, he was on his own, not with a group but I do remember him mentioning a group. As I said on the facebook page, I am 99% sure that it was him. He does have dreadlocks now and was wearing a bandana on his head. He was very friendly and looked well. The eyes though I thought were definitely him because even when I saw the picture of him on the news before they said that he was selling dreamcatchers I recognized hi, (without the dreadlocks). Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. My heart goes out to your family and I hope that you find him soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christie just if you see them again call the RCMP or let us know that would be great. It is still not confirmed if he is with these people.
